The AMPK Project’s four specific objectives were to:  

1. strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (MAFRD) and related bodies to: develop and implement overall and sub-sectoral agricultural policy; undertake programming and budgeting within the ministry; and prepare agri-rural projects for donor funding;

2. assist MAFRD to get ready to comply with, and be able to implement, the acquis communautaire in agriculture during the pre-EU accession period;

3. develop a coherent Kosovo rural development strategy that will facilitate continued progress towards harmonisation with the EU, through development of a realistic Agriculture and Rural Development Plan for 2007-13 that takes into account available financial and human resources; and

4. assist MAFRD in developing dialogue and communication related to rural developments in Kosovo, particularly in facilitating contacts and exchanges of information amongst rural development actors in Kosovo, and at regional and international levels.
