Livestock Breeding Training Programme starting from June 2008
Working with the University of Prishtina Faculty of Agriculture and the MAFRD Rural Development Advisory Service the KCLB and the Support Project has developed a series of practical training courses aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of those working in the livestock sector in Kosovo.
The courses will start in June'08 and will cover all the main components that contribute to productive, profitable and sustainable livestock production in Kosovo including:
  • Understanding herd books
  • Breeding strategies
  • Bull selection
  • Artificial Insemination system
  • Heat detection
  • Cow nutrition
  • Milk hygiene
  • Heard health
  • Housing and welfare
  • Calf rearing
  • Heifer rearing
  • Beef cattle rearing
  • Sheep breeding and management
  • Grassland management and fodder crops
The courses will be delivered by professors from the University of Prishtina to groups of farmers, vets, AI technicians, MAFRD staff and students. Each group will be made up of approximately 20 participants. The courses organized and co-ordinated locally by the Support Project and the MAFRD RDAS in each of six regions Prizren, Gjakova, Peja, Mitrovica, Gjilan and Prishtina.
Informational Leaflets

Each course will be accompanied by an Informational Leaflet on the subject. The Informational Leaflets will be available from the KCLB and the RDAS
