Welcome to the homepage of the Kosovo Centre for Livestock Breeding (KCLB) and the Support to KCLB Project. Through the pages of this web-site we hope to keep farmers, livestock specialists, vets and others working in the livestock industry informed on the activities of the KCLB and the Support to KCLB Project as well as the latest news and events happening in the Kosovo livestock sector. The web-site also aims to be a source of useful advice and information on livestock breeding matters including the Kosovo Bull Register which provides information on the Artificial Insemination bulls currently available in Kosovo. There is also information on the recently established Kosovo Livestock Herd Book, the Milk Recording Scheme and the pilot Sheep Performance Recording Scheme, just follow the links in the Main Menu.
The Kosovo Centre for Livestock Breeding (KCLB)
The Kosovo Centre for Livestock Breeding was set up in 2006 as a subsidiary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (MAFRD) its role is to collect and analyse data on livestock breeding and to brief and advise MAFRD on issues of livestock breeding in Kosovo. The KCLB will also have an interim role in the establishment and development of breeding herd books, performance recording, assessing genetic value and laboratory testing of genetic material. The KCLB will maintain the herd books, undertake performance recording and genetic evaluation until such a time as breeders associations and organizations are established and accredited. The KCLB has its office at the Veterinary Institute, University of Prishtina and is headed by Fatmir Lahu.
